Open Finance through a participating institution

We connect your system to the API of an Open Finance Brasil participating institution, or a provider linked to one, for financial data and payment initiation.

A mint-green thread looping around a brass coin and passing under a blank receipt strip.

Who it's for

For companies that want to use their customers' bank data, with consent, or accept payments initiated inside their own app.

What it solves

  • The customer sends a bank statement as a PDF and someone types the figures into the system.
  • The company wants to use Open Finance and does not know whether it must become a participant.
  • A provider has been chosen, but the system cannot yet handle consent and revocation.
  • The data arrives, but nobody has decided how long it may be kept.

What we do

Choosing the route
We list the institutions or providers that fit your case and what each one requires.
Consent journey
The customer is sent to their own institution to authorise and returns to your app with the result.
Revocation and expiry
Revoked or expired consent is detected, and use of that data stops there.
Data in your model
Accounts, balances and transactions received are converted into your system's data model.
Payment initiation
Payments initiated in your app through the participating institution, with the status tracked until confirmation.
Audit trail
A record of who consented, what was read and when, for your team to consult.

What you get

  • Integration with the chosen institution's or provider's API, in production
  • Consent, revocation and expiry flow tested in the sandbox
  • An audit trail of consents and data access
  • Error tests: institution unavailable, consent refused, incomplete data
  • Documentation of the flow for your team and the partner

How we do it

  1. Use case

What data or payments you need, what for and for how long.

  2. Choosing the partner

We compare institutions and providers; the contract and relationship stay with your company.

  3. Development

Consent, data reading or payment initiation, tested in the partner's environment.

  4. Go-live

A supervised switch to production, starting with a small group of customers.

  5. Follow-up

Failures, consents close to expiry and changes to the partner's API.

FAQ

Is Balkan an Open Finance participant?

No. Balkan is neither a participating institution nor authorised by the Central Bank. Regulated access goes through the institution or provider your company contracts.

Does my company need to become a participant?

That is a regulatory decision for your legal team. Our part is the technical side of the route chosen: through a participating institution or a provider linked to one.

What data can be read?

Only what your customer authorises, within what Open Finance provides for and the partner makes available, such as account and transaction data. The exact scope comes from the partner.

How long is the data kept?

For the period your legal team sets. The system records each consent and applies that rule when it ends; the technical design is covered under privacy by design.
